FLAGSHIP SOLAR ARRAY
Dual Axis Tracking
5.1kW Array, 8218kWh
This is our flagship solar array that was constructed in the summer of 2014. It was designed in accordance to the Consumers Energy EARP Program with a total nameplate generation capacity of 5.1 kW. The panels articulates on two axes for maximum power point tracking of the sun as it traverses the sky. Each ten panel assembly atop the 6.5 foot pole is 16..4 feet wide and 11.0 feet tall. The calculated power production of this solar panel array is 22.5 kWh per day, or enough power to completely supplement the energy usage for a family of four.

Our Call to Sustainability
More energy from sunlight strikes the Earth in one hour than all the energy consumed on the planet in a year. But despite this potential, solar power provided less than 0.1 percent of the world's electricity in 2005. Photovoltaic products use semiconductor materials (such as silicon) to convert light from the sun into energy. Although solar radiation varies with conditions in the atmosphere and changes to the earth’s position relative to the sun, almost all regions of the U.S. have the potential to successfully harness its resources.
